When I left GoCardless I had an epiphany.

I'd spent the best part of a decade helping businesses get paid. I joined GoCardless when it was a small UK team with less than $1m ARR, and we'd built it into a global $2.2bn fintech responsible for hundreds of billions of dollars of direct debits. But this was a drop in the ocean. There's more than $100 trillion a year in B2B invoicing, and almost none of it runs on autopay through GoCardless, card networks, or anyone else. It's done manually, human to human.

My realisation was that it's been done this way for thousands of years for good reasons. It's a communication and negotiation problem, not a payment problem. AP and AR departments and the madness between them.

So instead of telling you all to do it differently, we're building the AI agents that handle AR and AP the way you would. Well, if you worked 24/7, never missed an email and spoke every language. The network that takes $100 trillion a year from human to human to agent to agent.
